How to configure and manage features and feature settings.

Energy and sustainability

Energy and sustainability monitors and tracks the energy consumption and cost of your facilities and processes. Find out how to configure, manage, and operate the features related to this application.

Common

NOTES:

  • An organization has a default energy mode setting. Regions inherit this setting from the organization. Sites inherit the setting from the regions. Manually setting the energy mode for a region or site overrides the inherited setting.

  • Apparent energy and power is only displayed if these measurements are available from a monitoring device. Energy Hub does not calculate this data if it is not available from the device.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Asset view or Energy view.
  2. In the organization tree, select the location that you want to configure the energy mode for.
  3. In the information panel for the location, on the Info tab, from the options menu (three dots), select Edit to open the information panel editor
  4. In the information panel editor, under Information, find the Energy mode box and select the mode for this location.
  5. Select Save.

TIP: You can also configure the energy mode for a location in Setup > System setup, in the information panel for the location.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Asset view or Energy view.
  2. In the organization tree, select the location that you want to set the floor area for.
  3. In the information panel for the location, on the Info tab, from the options menu (three dots), select Edit to open the information panel editor
  4. In the information panel editor, under Information, find the Floor area box and enter the floor area for this location.

    NOTE: Enter the value in the unit of measurement shown in the box label (ft2 or m2). The unit of measurement is determined by the organization settings.

  5. Select Save.

TIP: You can also configure the floor area for a location in Setup > System setup, in the information panel for the location.

Consumption

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site that you want to add the load or supply to and select Configure site. The Configure site screen displays.
  3. In Configure site, in the Energy view, under Add loads and supplies, find the device that monitors the load or supply that you want to add.
  4. If the device has the correct energy usage type assigned to it, drag the device onto the relevant location in the organization model to add it to this location.

    TIP: To add multiple devices to the same location, use Shift+click or Ctrl+click to select the devices in the list.

    If the device does not have an energy usage type assigned to it, or if the assigned usage type is incorrect, then:

    1. Drag the device and hold it over the relevant location in the organization model. The Assign energy usage type dialog displays, showing a list of recently selected usage types..
    2. Drop the device on the desired usage type in the list. If you do not see the correct usage type in the list, or the list is empty, drop the device on the Assign a different usage type button. The Assign energy usage type dialog displays.
    3. In Assign energy usage type, find and select the usage type you want, and select Assign.

NOTE: Removing a load or supply only removes the association of a device with a location. The device will not be deleted from Energy Hub. The device will be marked as Unassociated in the device list. It will keep the last energy usage type that was assigned to it. You can reassign this usage type when you add the device to the organization model again.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site with the load or supply that you want to remove and select Configure site. The Configure site screen displays.
  3. In Configure site, in the Energy view, in the organization model, find the device that monitors the load or supply that you want to remove.
  4. From the options menu (three dots) for the device, select Remove device to remove the device and unassociate it from the location in the organization model.

TIP: To remove multiple devices, use Ctrl+click to select the devices, then, from the options menu (three dots) of any one of the devices, select Remove selected.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site with the load or supply that you want to change the energy usage type for and select Configure site. The Configure site screen displays.
  3. In Configure site, in the Energy view, in the organization model, find the device that monitors the load or supply that you want to change the energy usage type for.
  4. From the options menu (three dots) for the device, select Change usage type to open the Change energy usage type dialog.
  5. In Change energy usage type, select the new usage type for the device.
  6. Select Change.
TIP:

  • You can also change the usage type for a device by pointing to the 4-way arrow on the device tile, then dragging the device onto the location it is associated with in the organization model. This opens the Change energy usage type dialog.

  • To change the usage type for multiple devices at the same time, use Ctrl+click to select them, then drag them by the 4-way arrow onto the associated location.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site with the water or gas consumption that you want to configure and select Configure site. The Configure site screen displays.
  3. In Configure site, in Energy view, under Assign energy usage, find the device that monitors the water or gas consumption that you want to configure.
  4. Drag the device onto the relevant location in the organization model. The Select usage type dialog displays.
  5. In Select usage type, select the usage type that best describes what the water or gas is used for. For example, for water, this could simply be Water, for gas, it could be Heating.
  6. Select OK.

Consumption by business hours

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Energy view.
  2. In the organization tree, select the location that you want to create a business hours schedule for.

    NOTE: You can only create business hours schedules for sites and locations within a site, not for organizations or regions.

  3. In the display panel, find the Energy consumption by business hours display for this location.
  4. In the display, in the top right corner, select the schedule icon. The Business hours schedule displays.
  5. In Business hours schedule, select Add open hours to define when your business is open.

    NOTE: Any days or times that are not defined as open hours are considered to be closed hours.

  6. (Optional) In Business hours schedule, define special time periods when your business is closed, for example for holidays.

    NOTE: Periods of business closure take priority over the open hours defined in the schedule.

    TIP: Try to use Import holidays to set the public holidays for your country, if they are available. If a list of holidays is not available for your country, then define them manually..

  7. Select Save.

Consumption comparison

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Energy view.
  2. In the organization tree, select the location or equipment that you want to compare.
  3. In the Investigate toolbar, select the date range for which you want to see energy data. The display panel shows energy information for the selected date range.
  4. In the header of the display area, from the comparison type selector, select Time period. The Add time period selector displays. 
  5. From the Add time period selector, select a comparison time period to add it to the display.

    NOTE: The date range selection in the date range selector in the Investigate toolbar determines which comparison time periods are available in the Add time period selector. For details, see Comparison time selector.

  6. (Optional) Add additional comparison periods. You can add up to 10 periods.
  7. View the energy comparisons in the display panel.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Energy view.
  2. In the organization tree, select the location or equipment that you want to compare.
  3. In the Investigate toolbar, select the date range for which you want to see energy data. The display panel shows energy information for the selected date range.
  4. In the header of the display area, from the comparison type selector, select the location or equipment type to compare. The Add <type> control displays.

    NOTE: The control gives you the option to compare with the same type of location or equipment that you selected in the organization tree. For example, if you selected a site, the control will say Add site.

  5. Select Add <type>. The organization tree in the navigation panel highlights compatible locations or equipment.

    NOTE: You can only compare items of the same type.

  6. In the organization tree, select a location or equipment to add it to the display for comparison.
  7. (Optional) Add additional comparison locations or equipment. You can add up to 10 items.
  8. View the energy comparisons in the display panel.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Energy view.
  2. In the header of the display area, from the comparison type selector, select (No comparison).

Energy performance

[Web app]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select any of the views (Asset, Energy, Cost, or Electrical).
  2. In the organization tree, select the site that you want to create the target for.
  3. In the information panel for the site, select the Alarm Settings tab. A list of existing alarm rules for this location displays.
  4. On the alarm settings tab, select Add Alarm Rule. The Create new alarm rule panel displays.
  5. In Create new alarm rule, in the Alarm Type section, under Energy Management, select the Energy Consumption alarm type. Select Next.
  6. In Create new alarm rule, in the Setpoint section, select a monthly or yearly observation period.
  7. Enter the target consumption for the site:
    1. For a monthly observation period, enter the target consumption for each month separately.
    2. For a yearly observation period, enter the target consumption for a year. Energy Hub will assign 1/12 of the yearly value to each month.
  8. Enter an alarm setpoint and select an alarm priority. Select Next.

    NOTE: The alarm setpoint is a required setting for setting up the alarm, but it is not used for consumption tracking on the Home page.

  9. In Create new alarm rule, in the General section, define a name for the new alarm rule.
  10. (Optional) In Create new alarm rule, in the General section, disable the new alarm rule if you do not want it to take effect immediately.

    NOTE: You can enable or disable alarm rules at any time on the alarm settings tab in the information panel for the site.

  11. Select Finish.

[Mobile app – Site Manager mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. Select Organization settings. The Organization settings screen displays.
  3. Find the Yearly consumption target setting and enter a consumption target as needed.
  4. Select Save.
NOTES:
  • You can enter an address for a site or a building, not for an organization, region, or location within a building.
  • The default address for locations within a site is the site address. You can change this default by entering a new address for a location.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Asset view or Energy view.
  2. In the organization tree, select the location that you want to enter a street address for.
  3. In the information panel, on the Info tab, from the options menu (three dots), select Edit to open the information panel editor
  4. In the information panel editor, under Location, find the Address line box and enter the street address for this location.
  5. Select Save.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Energy view.
  2. In the organization tree, select the location that you want to create a business hours schedule for.

    NOTE: You can only create business hours schedules for sites and locations within a site, not for organizations or regions.

  3. In the display panel, find the Energy consumption by business hours display for this location.
  4. In the display, in the top right corner, select the schedule icon. The Business hours schedule displays.
  5. In Business hours schedule, select Add open hours to define when your business is open.

    NOTE: Any days or times that are not defined as open hours are considered to be closed hours.

  6. (Optional) In Business hours schedule, define special time periods when your business is closed, for example for holidays.

NOTES:
  • Only the Energy Hub mobile application uses this setting. The web application uses tariffs to determine consumption costs. For step-by-step instructions on how to create a tariff, see To create a tariff.
  • The electricity rate is set at the site level in Energy Hub. Different sites can have different electricity rates.

[Mobile app – Site Manager mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. Select Organization settings. The Organization settings screen displays.

    TIP: You can also open Organization settings by selecting the edit (pencil) icon next to the main consumption target display on the Energy tab.

  3. Find the Electricity rate setting and enter a rate as needed.
  4. Select Save.
NOTES:
  • Users with limited access permissions within the organization cannot view, create, edit, assign, or delete tariffs.
  • The new tariff will be assigned automatically to the site it is created on. You can later remove it from the site or use it for other sites if needed.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select any of the views (Asset, Energy, Cost, or Electrical).
  2. In the organization tree, select the site that you want to create the tariff for.
  3. In the information panel for the site, select the Tariffs tab. A selector for commodity options (Electricity, Gas, Water) and a list of assigned tariffs for the chosen commodity for this site display.
  4. Select the commodity that you want to create the tariff for.
  5. Select Edit . The edit controls display.
  6. Select Create new tariff. The Create new tariff panel displays.
  7. In Create new tariff, select the type of tariff you want to create, or select Copy an existing tariff to create a tariff based on an existing one. Select Next.

    NOTE: If you create a tariff based on an existing one, the new tariff default settings will be the same as the settings of the existing tariff. You can then edit those settings in the new tariff to make changes.

  8. For a flat-rate tariff, define the general tariff information and the rate.
    For a time-of-use tariff, define the general tariff information, time-of-use seasons, time-of-use periods, (optional) special days, and rates.
    For information on the tariff parameters, see cost details.
  9. Select Create to create the new tariff.

NOTE: Users with limited access permissions within the organization cannot view, create, edit, assign, or delete tariffs.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select any of the views (Asset, Energy, Cost, or Electrical).
  2. In the organization tree, select the site that you want to choose the tariff for.
  3. In the information panel for the site, select the Tariffs tab. A selector for commodity options (Electricity, Gas, Water) and a list of assigned tariffs for the chosen commodity for this site display.
  4. Select the commodity that you want to choose a tariff for.
  5. Select Edit . The edit controls display.
  6. Select Assign tariff. A New tariff assignment tile displays.
  7. In New tariff assignment, select a tariff and the effective date for the tariff. If there are no tariffs available, then create a tariff first. For step-by-step instructions on how to create a tariff, see To create a tariff.

    NOTE: The effective date is the start date of the measurement data to which the tariff is applied. The tariff will be in effect indefinitely, if no later effective date for a different tariff is defined, or the tariff ends when another one comes into effect.

  8. Click Select.
  9. (Optional) Select another tariff with a different effective date.
  10. Select Save.
NOTES:
  • Users with limited access permissions within the organization cannot view, create, edit, assign, or delete tariffs.
  • You can change the tariff information but not the tariff type.
  • Tariffs are defined at the organization level and are not site specific. If you edit a tariff, the changes will affect all sites the tariff is assigned to.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select any of the views (Asset, Energy, Cost, or Electrical).
  2. In the organization tree, select the site that has the tariff assigned to it that you want to edit, or select any site.
  3. In the information panel for the site, select the Tariffs tab. A selector for commodity options (Electricity, Gas, Water) and a list of assigned tariffs for the chosen commodity for this site display.
  4. Select the commodity for the tariff that you want to edit.
  5. Select Edit . The edit controls display.
  6. Find the tariff you want to edit in the list of assigned tariffs, or select Assign tariff and temporarily assign the tariff to this site. For step-by-step instructions on how to assign a tariff, see To assign a tariff to a site.
  7. Select Edit tariff on the tile of the tariff you want to edit. The edit tariff panel displays.
  8. In the edit tariff panel make the desired changes to the tariff. For information on the tariff parameters, see Cost > Details.
  9. Select Save.
  10. If you temporarily assigned the tariff to this site, remove it again. For step-by-step instructions on how to remove a tariff, see To remove a tariff from a site.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select any of the views (Asset, Energy, Cost, or Electrical)).
  2. In the organization tree, select the site that you want to remove the tariff from.
  3. In the information panel for the site, select the Tariffs tab. A selector for commodity options (Electricity, Gas, Water) and a list of assigned tariffs for the chosen commodity for this site display.
  4. Select the commodity that you want to remove a tariff for.
  5. Select Edit . The edit controls display.
  6. Find the tariff you want to remove in the list of tariffs.
  7. Select Remove to remove the tariff.
  8. Select Save.

NOTE: Users with limited access permissions within the organization cannot view, create, edit, assign, or delete tariffs.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select any of the views (Asset, Energy, Cost, or Electrical).
  2. In the organization tree, select any site.
  3. In the information panel for the site, select the Tariffs tab. A selector for commodity options (Electricity, Gas, Water) and a list of assigned tariffs for the chosen commodity for this site display.
  4. Select the commodity for the tariff that you want to delete.
  5. Select Edit . The edit controls display.
  6. Select Delete tariff. The Delete tariff dialog displays.
  7. In Delete tariff, select the tariff you want to delete.
  8. Review the information displayed in the delete dialog.
  9. Select Delete.

NOTE: The currency is set at the organization level in Energy Hub. Different organizations can have different currencies.

[Web app]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > Organization settings.
  2. In Organization settings, in the Country section, select the country for which you want to see the currency. This will auto-select the correct currency for this country based on regional defaults.

    To overwrite the default regional settings for currency,

    1. In Organization settings, in the Data formats section, clear the Use region specific defaults checkbox.
    2. In the Currency box, select the currency you would like to use for your organization.

[Mobile app]

Site manager mode:

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. Select Organization settings. The Organization settings screen displays.
  3. In Organization settings, change the Currency setting as needed.
  4. Select Save.

Technician mode:

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Technician mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. Under Organization setup, select Change regional settings. The Country and Units screen displays.
  3. In Country and Units, in the Country section, select the country for which you want to see the currency. This will auto-select the correct currency for this country based on regional defaults.

    To overwrite the default regional settings for currency,

    1. In Country and Units, clear the Use recommended setting based on region setting checkbox.
    2. In the Currency box, select the currency you would like to use for your organization.

Intensity

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Asset view or Energy view.
  2. In the organization tree, select the location that you want to set the floor area for.
  3. In the information panel for the location, on the Info tab, from the options menu (three dots), select Edit to open the information panel editor
  4. In the information panel editor, under Information, find the Floor area box and enter the floor area for this location.

    NOTE: Enter the value in the unit of measurement shown in the box label (ft2 or m2). The unit of measurement is determined by the organization settings.

  5. Select Save.

Weather normalization

NOTES:
  • You can enter an address for a site or a building, not for an organization, region, or location within a building.
  • The default address for locations within a site is the site address. You can change this default by entering a new address for a location.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Asset view or Energy view.
  2. In the organization tree, select the location that you want to enter a street address for.
  3. In the information panel, on the Info tab, from the options menu (three dots), select Edit to open the information panel editor
  4. In the information panel editor, under Location, find the Address line box and enter the street address for this location.
  5. Select Save.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select any of the views (Asset, Energy, Cost, or Electrical).
  2. In the organization tree, select the site that you want to change the baseline temperatures for.
  3. In the information panel, on the Info tab, from the options menu (three dots), select Edit to open the information panel editor
  4. In the information panel editor, under Weather station, find the Baseline temperature HDD and Baseline temperature CDD boxes and update the temperature values.
  5. Select Save.

Standards based monitoring

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site that you want to add the load or supply to and select Configure site. The Configure site screen displays.
  3. In Configure site, in the Energy view, under Add loads and supplies, find the device that monitors the load or supply that you want to add.
  4. If the device has the correct energy usage type assigned to it, drag the device onto the relevant location in the organization model to add it to this location.

    TIP: To add multiple devices to the same location, use Shift+click or Ctrl+click to select the devices in the list.

    If the device does not have an energy usage type assigned to it, or if the assigned usage type is incorrect, then:

NABERS

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > Organization settings.
  2. In the configuration panel, change the country setting as needed.

[Mobile app – Technician mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Technician mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. Under Organization setup, select Change regional settings. The Country and Units screen displays.
  3. In Country and Units, change the Country setting as needed.
NOTES:
  • You can enter an address for a site or a building, not for an organization, region, or location within a building.
  • The default address for locations within a site is the site address. You can change this default by entering a new address for a location.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Asset view or Energy view.

NOTE: Adding a building includes creating a rating for the building.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to NABERS.
  2. In the NABERS ratings manager, in the list panel, select Add new building. The Create a new NABERS rating setup panel displays.
  3. In the setup panel, on the Building page, select the building that you want to add and to create a rating for.
  4. Select Next. The Scope and target page displays.
  5. On the Scope and target page, select the rating scope and (optional) select a target star rating.
  6. Select Next. The Building details page displays.
  7. On the Building details page, enter the building related rating inputs.

    TIP: To set the Rated area to the floor area that is configured in Energy Hub for this building, select the provided link. This will update the Rated area box with the Energy Hub floor area value.

  8. Select Next. The Energy use page displays.
  9. On the Energy use page, set the rating period and enter energy use details.

    NOTE: The rating period includes the start and end day of the period.

  10. Select Create to add the new building and create a rating.

NOTE: This will remove the building from the NABERS building list and delete all the building ratings. It will not delete the building from Energy Hub.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to NABERS.
  2. In the NABERS ratings manager, in the list panel, find the building that you want to remove.
  3. From the options menu (three dots) for the building, select Remove building.

[Web app only]

NOTE: To create a NABERS rating for a new building that is not yet in the NABERS building list, you need to first add that building. For information on how to add a building, see To add a building to the NABERS building list.

To create a completely new NABERS rating for a building in the NABERS building list:

  1. In Energy Hub, go to NABERS.
  2. In the NABERS ratings manager, in the list panel, find the building that you want to create a rating for.
  3. Select the building. The existing ratings for this building display in the building rating results panel.
  4. In the building rating results panel, select Create new rating. The Create new NABERS rating setup panel displays.
  5. In the setup panel, on the Building page, select Next to continue with the current building. (Optional) You can select a different building and then select Next. The Scope and target page displays.
  6. On the Scope and target page, select the rating scope and (optional) select a target star rating.
  7. Select Next. The Building details page displays.
  8. On the Building details page, enter the building related rating inputs.

    TIP: To set the Rated area to the floor area that is configured in Energy Hub for this building, select the provided link. This will update the Rated area box with the Energy Hub floor area value.

  9. Select Next. The Energy use page displays.
  10. On the Energy use page, set the rating period and enter energy use details.

    NOTE: The rating period includes the start and end day of the period.

  11. Select Create.

To create a new NABERS rating based on an existing rating for a building:

  1. In Energy Hub, go to NABERS.
  2. In the NABERS ratings manager, in the list panel, find the building that you want to create a rating for.
  3. Select the building. The existing ratings for this building display in the building rating results panel.
  4. In the building rating results panel, find the rating that you want to base the new rating on.
  5. From the options menu (three dots) for the rating, select Copy as new rating. The Copy as new rating setup panel displays.

    NOTE: The rating input defaults for the new rating are the same as for the existing rating. You can edit those inputs to fit the new rating that you want to create.

  6. On the Scope and target tab, adjust the rating scope and target star rating as needed.
  7. On the Building details tab, adjust the building related rating inputs as needed.

    TIP: To set the Rated area to the floor area that is configured in Energy Hub for this building, select the provided link. This will update the Rated area box with the Energy Hub floor area value.

  8. On the Energy use tab, adjust the rating period and energy use details as needed.

    NOTE: The rating period includes the start and end day of the period.

  9. Select Save to create a new NABERS rating.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to NABERS.
  2. In the NABERS ratings manager, in the list panel, find the building that you want to edit rating inputs for.
  3. Select the building. The ratings for this building display in the building rating results panel.
  4. In the building rating results panel, find the rating that you want to edit the inputs for.
  5. From the options menu (three dots) for the rating, select Edit. The Edit NABERS rating panel displays.
  6. In the edit panel, update the inputs that you want to change.
  7. Select Save to recalculate the NABERS rating and the rating report with the changed inputs.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to NABERS.
  2. In the NABERS ratings manager, in the list panel, find the building that you want to recalculate a rating for.
  3. Select the building. The ratings for this building display in the building rating results panel.
  4. In the building rating results panel, find the rating that you want to recalculate.
  5. From the options menu (three dots) for the rating, select Recalculate to recalculate the rating.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to NABERS.
  2. In the NABERS ratings manager, in the list panel, find the building that you want to delete a rating for.
  3. Select the building. The ratings for this building display in the building rating results panel.
  4. In the building rating results panel, find the rating that you want to delete.
  5. From the options menu (three dots) for the rating, select Delete to delete the rating.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site that you want to add the load or supply to and select Configure site. The Configure site screen displays.
  3. In Configure site, in the Energy view, under Add loads and supplies, find the device that monitors the load or supply that you want to add.
  4. If the device has the correct energy usage type assigned to it, drag the device onto the relevant location in the organization model to add it to this location.

    TIP: To add multiple devices to the same location, use Shift+click or Ctrl+click to select the devices in the list.

    If the device does not have an energy usage type assigned to it, or if the assigned usage type is incorrect, then:

    1. Drag the device and hold it over the relevant location in the organization model. The Assign energy usage type dialog displays, showing a list of recently selected usage types..
    2. Drop the device on the desired usage type in the list. If you do not see the correct usage type in the list, or the list is empty, drop the device on the Assign a different usage type button. The Assign energy usage type dialog displays.
    3. In Assign energy usage type, find and select the usage type you want, and select Assign.

NOTE: Removing a load or supply only removes the association of a device with a location. The device will not be deleted from Energy Hub. The device will be marked as Unassociated in the device list. It will keep the last energy usage type that was assigned to it. You can reassign this usage type when you add the device to the organization model again.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site with the load or supply that you want to remove and select Configure site. The Configure site screen displays.
  3. In Configure site, in the Energy view, in the organization model, find the device that monitors the load or supply that you want to remove.
  4. From the options menu (three dots) for the device, select Remove device to remove the device and unassociate it from the location in the organization model.

TIP: To remove multiple devices, use Ctrl+click to select the devices, then, from the options menu (three dots) of any one of the devices, select Remove selected.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site with the load or supply that you want to change the energy usage type for and select Configure site. The Configure site screen displays.
  3. In Configure site, in the Energy view, in the organization model, find the device that monitors the load or supply that you want to change the energy usage type for.
  4. From the options menu (three dots) for the device, select Change usage type to open the Change energy usage type dialog.
  5. In Change energy usage type, select the new usage type for the device.
  6. Select Change.
TIP:

  • You can also change the usage type for a device by pointing to the 4-way arrow on the device tile, then dragging the device onto the location it is associated with in the organization model. This opens the Change energy usage type dialog.

  • To change the usage type for multiple devices at the same time, use Ctrl+click to select them, then drag them by the 4-way arrow onto the associated location.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Asset view or Energy view.
  2. In the organization tree, select the device that you want to edit the setting for.
  3. In the information panel for the device, on the Info tab, from the options menu (three dots), select Edit to open the information panel editor.
  4. In the information panel editor, find the setting that you want to edit and make your changes.
  5. Select Save.

NOTE: The electricity sell-back rate is set at the site level in Energy Hub. Different sites can have different electricity sell-back rates.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select any of the views (Asset, Energy, Cost, or Electrical).
  2. In the organization tree, select the site that you want to set the electricity sell-back rate for.
  3. In the information panel for the site, on the Info tab, from the options menu (three dots), select Edit to open the information panel editor.
  4. In the information panel editor, under Information, find the Electricity sell-back rate box and enter the rate you would like to use for this site.

    Example: Enter 0.25 for an electricity sell-back rate of 25 cents per kWh (for a currency of United States dollar).

  5. Select Save.

TIP: You can also set the electricity sell-back rate in Setup > System setup, in the information panel for the site.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select the Asset view or Energy view.
  2. In the organization tree, select the device that you want to edit the setting for.
  3. In the information panel for the device, on the Info tab, from the options menu (three dots), select Edit to open the information panel editor.
  4. In the information panel editor, find the setting that you want to edit and make your changes.
  5. Select Save.

Electrical power monitoring

Electrical power monitoring provides information on the status of your electrical equipment and your energy infrastructure. Find out how to configure, manage, and operate the features related to this application.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization diagram in the configuration panel, find the site that you want to create a single-line diagram for and select Configure site. The Configure site screen displays.

    NOTE: If there are no sites set up in the organization, add a site first. For step-by-step instructions on how to add a site, see To add a site.

  3. In Configure site, select Electrical view.
  4. To add the first diagram element, in the Electrical screen, right-click anywhere and select Add diagram element. The Add diagram element dialog displays.

    TIP: A single-line diagram element represents an electrical component, for example, a transformer, circuit breaker, or electrical bus.

  5. In Add diagram element, enter the following information:

    Element name:The display name for the element in the diagram.
    Type:The type of electrical component the function represents
    Monitoring device:The device providing the monitoring data for the electrical component.
    Upstream monitoring device:(Optional) A device monitoring the input circuit of the electrical component.
    Downstream monitoring device:(Optional) A device monitoring the output circuit of the electrical component.

  6. (Optional) To add additional individual elements to the diagram that are not connected to each other, repeat steps 4 and 5.
  7. To add an element that is connected to an existing element, for example, to add a circuit breaker to an existing transformer:
    1. Right-click the existing element and select Add upstream element or Add downstream element depending on where you want to connect the new element. The add element dialog displays.
    2. In the add element dialog, enter the information to define the element.
  8. (Optional) To add additional connected elements, repeat step 7.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization diagram in the configuration panel, find the site you want to edit the single-line diagram for and select Configure site. The Configure site screen displays.
  3. In Configure site, select Electrical view. The single-line diagram displays.
  4. (Optional) Right-click an existing diagram element and select an option to edit it, add upstream or downstream elements, or remove it from the diagram.
  5. (Optional) Right-click anywhere in the Electrical screen and select Add diagram element to add an additional individual element that is not connected to an existing element.
  6. (Optional) Repeat steps 4 and 5 to make your diagram edits.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Investigate and select any of the views (Asset, Energy, Cost, or Electrical).
  2. In the navigation panel, find and select the site that you want to select the single-line diagram symbols for.
  3. In the information panel for the site, on the Info tab, from the options menu (three dots), select Edit to open the information panel editor.
  4. In the information panel editor, under Information, find the SLD symbol standard box and select the standard (IEC or NEMA) that you would like to use for this site.
  5. Select Save.

TIP: You can also set the symbol standard in Setup > System setup, in the information panel for the site.

NOTE: Changing notification settings might lead to missed important alarms. Before making any changes, check that there are no critical alarms set for those priorities and categories.

[Web app]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > Notification settings.
  2. In the configuration panel, update the notification settings as needed.

[Mobile app – Technician mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Technician mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. Under User preferences, select Notification settings. The Notifications screen displays.
  3. In Notifications, update the notifications filter criteria for alarm priority and alarm category for email notifications and mobile push notifications as needed.

Building operations

Building operations monitors your refrigeration and emergency lighting system status and health. Find out how to configure, manage, and operate the features related to this application.

[Mobile app – Site Manager mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. In Setup, select Emergency light controls. A list of emergency lights displays.
  3. Select the light that you want to turn on or off. The Controls screen for this light displays.
  4. Use the Turn light on/off control to turn the light on or off.

TIP: You can also open the Controls screen for an emergency light from its details screen. To open the details screen, go to Home > Emergency Lighting and select the tile for the light you want to control.

[Mobile app – Site Manager mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. In Setup, select Emergency light controls. A list of emergency lights displays.
  3. Select the light that you want to turn on or off. The Controls screen for this light displays.
  4. Use the Locate light control to make the light blink for 60 seconds.

TIP: You can also open the Controls screen for an emergency light from its details screen. To open the details screen, go to Home > Emergency Lighting and select the tile for the light you want to control.

[Mobile app – Site Manager mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the Home tab and swipe up for more details.
  2. Select the Emergency Lighting tab. The emergency light tiles display.
  3. Select the tile for the light you want to run the functional test on. A details screen displays.
  4. On the details screen, on the Last functional test tile, select the Run now arrow icon to run a functional test.

NOTE: Disabling the automatic tests generates an alarm in Energy Hub that remains active until they are enabled again.

[Mobile app – Site Manager mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. In Setup, select Emergency light controls. A list of emergency lights displays.
  3. Select the light that you want to disable or enable the tests for. The Controls screen for this light displays.
  4. Use the Disable tests control to disable or enable the tests.

TIP: You can also open the Controls screen for an emergency light from its details screen. To open the details screen, go to Home > Emergency Lighting and select the tile for the light you want to control.

NOTE: Synchronizing does not trigger an immediate test.

[Mobile app – Site Manager mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. In Setup, select Emergency light controls. A list of emergency lights displays.
  3. Select the light that you want to turn on or off. The Controls screen for this light displays.
  4. Use the Synchronize tests control to synchronize the test schedules for all the emergency lights in your system.

TIP: You can also open the Controls screen for an emergency light from its details screen. To open the details screen, go to Home > Emergency Lighting and select the tile for the light you want to control.

Automation and control

Manually control non-critical loads, such as lighting, or define schedules for automated load control. Find out how to configure, manage, and operate the features related to this application.

NOTE: Always consider the Safety Precautions when using information provided by Energy Hub for decision making.

[Mobile app – Site Manager mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the Home tab and swipe up for more details.
  2. Select the tab that represents the load type you want to control, for example Lighting. The tiles for loads of this type display, for example all lighting loads.
  3. On the tile representing the load you want to control, select the on/off control to change the load state.

    TIP: You can also select the tile to open the details view and then control the load from there.

[Mobile app – Site Manager mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. In Setup, select Load schedules. A list of the loads that can be controlled through Energy Hub displays.
  3. Select the load that you want to create a schedule for. The Load schedules page with existing schedules for this load displays.
  4. Select Add schedule. The Define schedule page displays.
  5. Define the schedule name, select the days and times when you want the load to be turned on. Add time periods and day groups as needed.
  6. Select Save.

TIP: You can also open the Load schedules screen for a load from its details screen. To open the details screen, go to Home > (load type tab) and select the tile for the load you want to control.

[Mobile app – Site Manager mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. In Setup, select Load schedules. A list of the loads that can be controlled through Energy Hub displays.
  3. Select the load that you want to edit the schedule for. The Load schedules page with existing schedules for this load displays.
  4. Select the schedule that you want to edit. The schedule details page displays.
  5. On the schedule details page, select Edit schedule. The Define schedule page displays.
  6. In Define schedule, make the changes you want to make.
  7. Select Save.

TIP: You can also edit load schedules in Site manager mode, from Home > (load type tab) > load tile for the load you want to edit the schedule for. Select the load tile to open the details page and then select Load schedules. Follow steps 5–7 above.

  4. Select the schedule that you want to delete. The schedule details page displays.
  5. On the schedule details page, select Edit schedule. The Define schedule page displays.
  6. In Define schedule, scroll to the bottom of the page until the Delete schedule option is visible.
  7. Select Delete schedule.

TIP: You can also delete load schedules in Site manager mode, from Home > (load type tab) > load tile for the load you want to delete the schedule for. Select the load tile to open the details page and then select Load schedules. Follow steps 5–7 above.

[Mobile app – Site Manager mode only]

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. In Setup, select Load schedules. A list of the loads that can be controlled through Energy Hub displays.
  3. Select the load that you want to enable or disable the schedule for. The Load schedules page with existing schedules for this load displays.
  4. Select the schedule that you want to enable or disable. The schedule details page displays.
  5. On the schedule details page, toggle the slider control to enable or disable this load schedule.

    TIP: You can also enable or disable a load schedule when editing the schedule or when creating a new schedule.

  6. In Define schedule, make the changes you want to make.
  7. Select Save.

TIP: You can also enable or disable load schedules in Site manager mode, from Home > (load type tab) > load tile for the load you want to enable or disable the schedule for. Select the load tile to open the details page and then select Load schedules. Follow steps 5–7 above.

Tenant energy billing

Tenant billing allocates costs and generates tenant bills for electrical energy consumption. Find out how to configure, manage, and operate the features related to this application.

NOTE: You can create up to 500 tenants.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site that you want to create a tenant for and select Configure site. The site configuration panel displays.
  3. Select Billing view, then select Create new tenant. The tenant configuration panel displays.
  4. In the tenant configuration panel, define the new tenant details.
  5. Select Create.

NOTE: You can assign the same tenant to multiple locations, but each location can only have one tenant.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site that you want to assign a tenant for and select Configure site. The site configuration panel displays.
  3. Select Billing view, then find the tenant that you want to assign.

    TIP: If the tenant you want to assign does not exist yet, you need to create it first. For step-by-step instructions on how to create a tenant, see To create a tenant.

  4. Drag the tenant onto the relevant location in the organization model to assign it to that location.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site that you want to unassign a tenant for and select Configure site. The site configuration panel displays.
  3. Select Billing view, then find the tenant that you want to unassign in the organization model.
  4. On the location tile for the tenant, select Unassign tenant from the options menu (three dots), or on the tenant tile, select to unassign the tenant from the location.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site that you want to edit a tenant for and select Configure site. The site configuration panel displays.
  3. Select Billing view, then find the tenant that you want to edit in the tenant list on the left.
  4. From the options menu (three dots) for the tenant, select Edit tenant. The tenant configuration panel displays.
  5. In the tenant configuration panel, update the information that you want to change.
  6. Select Save.

NOTE: Existing bill runs and tenant bills for a tenant are not deleted when the tenant is deleted.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > System setup.
  2. In the organization model in the configuration panel, find the site that you want to delete a tenant for and select Configure site. The site configuration panel displays.
  3. Select Billing view, then find the tenant that you want to delete in the tenant list on the left.
  4. From the options menu (three dots) for the tenant, select Delete tenant to delete the tenant.

NOTE: The currency is set at the organization level in Energy Hub. Different organizations can have different currencies.

[Web app]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > Organization settings.
  2. In Organization settings, in the Country section, select the country for which you want to see the currency. This will auto-select the correct currency for this country based on regional defaults.

    To overwrite the default regional settings for currency,

    1. In Organization settings, in the Data formats section, clear the Use region specific defaults checkbox.
    2. In the Currency box, select the currency you would like to use for your organization.

[Mobile app]

Site manager mode:

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Site manager mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. Select Organization settings. The Organization settings screen displays.
  3. In Organization settings, change the Currency setting as needed.
  4. Select Save.

Technician mode:

  1. In the Energy Hub mobile app, in Technician mode, open the application options menu (three lines) and select Setup. The Setup options screen displays.
  2. Under Organization setup, select Change regional settings. The Country and Units screen displays.
  3. In Country and Units, in the Country section, select the country for which you want to see the currency. This will auto-select the correct currency for this country based on regional defaults.

    To overwrite the default regional settings for currency,

    1. In Country and Units, clear the Use recommended setting based on region setting checkbox.
    2. In the Currency box, select the currency you would like to use for your organization.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Tenant Billing.
  2. In the bill run manager, select Create new bill run. The bill run setup page displays.
  3. On the bill run setup page, choose to create a completely new bill run, or to create a new bill run based on an existing bill run.

    NOTE: If you create a bill run based on an existing one, the new bill run default settings will be the same as the settings of the existing bill run. You can then edit those settings in the new bill run to make changes.

  4. Select Next. The Details page displays.

  5. On the Details page, enter a name for the bill run and (optional) a description.
  6. Select the billing period start date and end date.
  7. Select Next. The Tenants page displays.
  8. On the Tenants page, select the Energy Hub site where the tenants are located that you want to create the bills for.
  9. Select the tenants from the tenants list.
  10. Select Next. The Tariff and rates page displays.
  11. On the Tariff and rates page, configure the tariff charges and rates.
  12. Select Next. The Additional information and settings page displays.
  13. On the Additional information and settings page, (optional) enter a message to be included with each bill.
  14. Select Create to create a bill run preview. The bill run Preview page displays.
  15. After the bill calculations are complete, review the bill previews.

    NOTE: Verify that the bill run is correct before finishing it. A finished bill run cannot be edited and cannot be deleted.

    TIP: To correct mistakes or change the bill run details, select Edit at the top of the Preview page.

  16. Select Finish to finish the bill run and the tenant bills.

NOTE: You can only edit bill run previews. You cannot edit finished bill runs.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Tenant Billing.
  2. In the bill run manager, in the bill run list on the left, find the bill run that you want to edit.
  3. Select the bill run. The bill run results page displays.
  4. From the options menu (three dots) for the bill run, or on the results page, select Edit. The Edit bill run page displays.
  5. In Edit bill run, update the bill run information as needed.
  6. Select Save to save the updates and to recalculate the tenant bills.

NOTE: Verify that the bill run is correct before finishing it. A finished bill run cannot be edited and cannot be deleted.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Tenant Billing.
  2. In the bill run editor, in the bill run list on the left, find the bill run that you want to finish.
  3. Select the bill run. The bill run results page displays.
  4. From the options menu (three dots) for the bill run, or on the results page, select Finish.

To rename a finished bill run:

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Tenant Billing.
  2. In the bill run editor, in the bill run list on the left, find the bill run that you want to rename.
  3. Select the bill run. The bill run results page displays.
  4. From the options menu (three dots) for the bill run, or on the results page, select Rename. The Rename bill run dialog displays.
  5. In Rename bill run, enter the new bill run name, then select Rename.

To rename a bill run preview:

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Tenant Billing.
  2. In the bill run manager, in the bill run list on the left, find the bill run that you want to rename.
  3. Select the bill run. The bill run results page displays.
  4. From the options menu (three dots) for the bill run, or on the results page, select Edit. The Edit bill run page displays.
  5. In the Details section, update the bill run name.
  6. Select Save to save the update.

NOTE: You can only delete bill run previews. You cannot delete finished bill runs.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Tenant Billing.
  2. In the bill run editor, in the bill run list on the left, find the bill run that you want to delete.
  3. Select the bill run. The bill run results page displays.
  4. From the options menu (three dots) for the bill run, or on the results page, select Delete to delete the bill run.

NOTE: You can only move finished bill runs. You cannot move bill run previews.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Tenant Billing.
  2. In the bill run manager, select the Current or Archived view, depending on where the bill run is located that you want to move.
  3. In the bill run list on the left, find the bill run that you want to move.
  4. Select the bill run. The bill run results page displays.
  5. From the options menu (three dots) for the bill run, or on the results page, select Move to Archived or Move to Current.

NOTE: Always finish bill runs before downloading bills to send to your tenants. Do not send bills from bill run previews.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Tenant Billing.
  2. In the bill run editor, in the bill run list on the left, find the bill run that you want to download bills for.
  3. Select the bill run. The bill run results page displays.
  4. On the bill run results page, find the tenant in the tenant table that you want to download a bill for.
  5. In the table row for the tenant, select the PDF icon in the Bill (Preview / Finished) column. The bill downloads and opens in a new window.

    TIP: To download all tenant bills for this bill run, select Download all bills below the tenant table.

Energy Hub generates tenant bills, but it does not send them out to your tenants. To send bills to your tenants, download the bills and then use your preferred method of communicating with your tenants, such as email, to send them.

System integration

System integration makes it possible to share Energy Hub data with other applications through an application programming interface (API). Find out how to create and manage access clients that allow client applications to connect to the API.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > Integrations.
  2. On the API tab, select Create new access client. The access client configuration panel displays.
  3. In the access client configuration panel, define the new access client details.

    NOTE: Copy the client secret and keep it secure. The application using the access client to connect to Energy Hub needs the client secret to authenticate with Energy Hub. You cannot view the client secret again in Energy Hub after this configuration panel closes.

  4. Select Create.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > Integrations.
  2. On the API tab, in the access client list, find the access client that you want to edit.
  3. From the options menu (three dots) for the access client, select Edit client. The access client configuration panel displays.
  4. In the access client configuration panel, update the access client information as needed.
  5. Select Save.

NOTE: Deleting an access client will disconnect any connections for this client.

[Web app only]

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > Integrations.
  2. On the API tab, in the access client list, find the access client that you want to delete.
  3. From the options menu (three dots) for the access client, select Delete client to delete the access client.

NOTE: Generating a new client secret will immediately suspend any client connections for this access client. To connect again, the client application needs to re-authenticate using the new client secret. The new client secret will be displayed after you select Generate, for you to copy it.

  1. In Energy Hub, go to Setup > Integrations.
  2. On the API tab, in the access client list, find the access client that you want to generate the new secret for.
  3. From the options menu (three dots) for the access client, select New secret. The generate new client secret dialog displays.
  4. In the generate new client secret dialog, select Generate to generate a new client secret.
